OFFERED THE FIRST WEEKEND OF EACH NEW SESSION-
These services include:
FRIDAY ARRIVAL AT VILLA- Arrival at the villa will be friday after 6 p.m. This allows you to save money on airfare since leaving the US is cheaper during the week, Mondays through Thursdays. Leaving Thursday and coming into Venice on Friday afternoon will put you in Arba that evening. It may also be convenient since you may be tired after your long flight and want to go straight to the villa for rest and relaxation.
SATURDAY MORNING MARKET IN SPILIMBERGO, MEZZOGIORNO SNACKS IN CAFE and SHORT TOUR OF MOSAIC CENTER- These activities are offered the first Saturday morning upon arrival. This is a visit to the beautiful town of Spilimbergo, browsing in the Saturday open market, a brief tour of this mosaic capitol of the world, and a glass of wine or mineral water with light snacks in a traditional osteria at mezzogiorno. The group is then free to go out to a restaurant in Spilimbergo, there are several good ones. As always, bus tickets must be bought in advance at the bars/cafes. They are only a few dollars, depending on exchange rate.
SUNDAY ARBA ORIENTATION TOUR/ AFTERNOON WALK, TRIP TO PIZZA PARLOR IN SEQUALS/ OR COLD CUT LUNCH BUFFET AT VILLA- These meals and activities will be offered the first Sunday upon arrival. These activities will allow students to get acquainted with the area and program. The meals will also make it easier for students since they may be tired after a long plane ride, may not be in the mood for shopping or cooking or may not have had the time to do grocery shopping. (All stores are closed for the weekend 7:30 pm Saturday evenings until Monday mornings.) Each student should pay for his or her own lunch in the Pizzeria. Cab or car ride to this lovely mountain town is included. Cold cut lunch buffet at the villa is fully covered.
*Friday, Saturday and Sunday night dinners can be eaten at the festivals, if they are going on during the program. They are fairly cheap, fun meals!

*OPTIONAL WEEKEND
-ROOM, BOARD & ACTIVITIES- $55 to $85
All students have the option of staying at the villa the second weekend, either part of or for the full weekend. If so, a small additional fee must be added to total. If student pays but decides to travel, a reimbursement will be made at the end of the stay. This extra room, board and activities include:
1) AN AFTERNOON IN THE MOUNTAINS-
POFABRO AND/OR FRISANCO. This is a short day visit to tiny mountainous villages outside of Maniago. They are quaint ancient towns built right into the mountains, around the twelfth century. We will also get a drink in the local bar in the piazza. They are very charming villages, and like going back into time hundreds of years. Bring your cameras! A packed lunch can be eaten in at a scenic point in Pofabro or Frisanco. This little car/ cab trip can be done on a Friday or Sunday afternoon if you are staying extra time at the villa on the second weekend. Fare for cab/ car trip included.
2) THURSDAY EVENING FISH DINNER AT THE VILLA. This can be arranged the first Thursday evening, before your second weekend begins. It can be very practical if you plan to stay in Arba your first free weekend, or if you intend to go away that Friday or Saturday. It will give you a chance to relax at the villa before your weekend trip. Also, restaurants are not always available in Arba on Thursday nights. During festival season, food is sold from Friday to Sunday nights. So an extra dinner at the villa may be a good idea. There is an outdoor market on Thursday mornings, where we will buy fresh fish and vegetables for the dinner. The meal would consist of baked or grilled fresh fish, fresh Italian bread, and a big salad. Mineral water and local wine are also included!
3) SUGGESTIONS:
*TAKE A CAR OR BUS TRIP TO NEARBY TOWNS FOR LUNCH. (UDINE, SPLIMBERGO, ETC.)
*ENJOY WEEKEND ARBA FESTIVAL FOR DINNER FROM FRIDAY THRU SUNDAY NIGHTS!
*TAKE THE BUS/TRAIN TO TRIESTE OR VENICE ON SATURDAY MORNING, COME BACK SUNDAY EVENING. *OR LEAVE FRIDAY MORNING, COME BACK SUNDAY AFTERNOON. (if Sunday afternoon bus is available)
